Wanna know a secret? Honestly, I probably shouldn't say this. But maybe you already know. Fall in Mammoth Lakes is pure magic. The crowds have gone home, the weather is cool, and the nightly rates are lower than any other time of the year.
And if you time your trip right, you might just enjoy the most spectacular fall color in the western USA. Our colors are so fantastic that we made the most recent cover of Peloton Magazine. Check it out at this link or by clicking on the Peloton image below. And please, read on for links and tips to make the most of your autumn trip to Mammoth and the Eastern Sierra.
Mono County has some of the best fall color resources so we've included links to their resource page below ... Find guides, maps, descriptions, even a gallery of fantastic fall color from years gone by. Whether you're taking it easy by driving or hiking, or looking to challenge yourself with a helicopter or horseback tour, you can find just about any info you need with these Mono Co links.
Before you head out, make sure to download the Fall Color Brochure, linked below. It includes a detailed map of foliage sites from Big Pine to Topaz, and 20 points in between, Some are drives, some hikes, some are both-- but all are described in detail so you can pick the best spots for your trip.
Top Tip: Get a general idea of what you want to do, but just before your travel dates, cross-reference the map to the Fall Color Report to maximize your search for the best fall colors.
