Main Lodge is, as the name suggests, the largest Lodge with lifts to the heart of Mammoth Mountain, serving as the primary base area. Main Lodge boasts a range of amenities, including restaurants, cafes, ski rental shops, and retail outlets, making it an all-in-one destination for visitors.

Additionally, the Main Lodge offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains, adding to the overall appeal of this classic Mammoth Mountain hub.

Many ski classes and clinics are based out of Main, but parking can be challening on busy days. Arrive early, and plan to park near one of the free shuttle stops, marked with large letters along Minaret.

2. Canyon Lodge:

Canyon Lodge, often called Mammoth's favorite ski portal, is another popular option at Mammoth Mountain. Known for its family-friendly atmosphere, Canyon Lodge caters to guests of all ages and skiing abilities. The lodge is also positioned centrally on the mountain, between Eagle and Main, and is close to a variety of beginner and intermediate ski runs, making it an ideal choice for families and those new to winter sports. The central location makes it easy to access the entire mountain.

The lodge was renovated in 2018, and boasts a warm and welcoming ambiance with floor to celing murals, plenty of seating, dining, and drinking space. The upstairs bar features an inviting fireplaces, perfect for mingling with other guests and sharing stories of the day's adventures.

Canyon also enjoys the best parties and apres ski on the mountain.

3. Eagle Lodge:

Eagle Lodge, with its comparably low elevation, and constructed as a semi-permanent tent, stands out as a more secluded and tranquil option compared to its counterparts. Situated on the western side of Mammoth Mountain, this lodge offers a more laid-back and serene atmosphere, attracting those seeking a peaceful mountain retreat. While it may not have the bustling amenities of Main Lodge, it compensates with breathtaking views and a sense of solitude amidst nature's splendor.

This brewery and gastropub offer a cozy and inviting atmosphere, making it an ideal spot to relax and enjoy a pint. Sample their diverse selection of beers, which often include seasonal and experimental brews, all while savoring delectable food pairings from their kitchen. Mountain Rambler Brewery embodies the spirit of the Eastern Sierra, celebrating the region's natural wonders and local community.

Black Doubt Brewing Company, now called "Distant Brewing" (Mammoth Lakes): This is our family go-to and was once a hidden gem in Mammoth Lakes, dedicated to crafting exceptional beers that cater to a variety of tastes. With a focus on small-batch production and attention to detail, they offer a rotating selection of brews that range from hop-forward ales to Belgian-inspired classics. Their taproom, which was previously the town police station, provides a warm and inviting space to enjoy their creations while engaging with fellow beer enthusiasts. Be sure to look for the relics of the police station, including the property cage by the pool table. They now offer some great pub food. My fav is the greek salad, but we love everything they serve. (Be sure to start with the pretzel bread sticks with beer cheese sauce!)
