Check out those photos. Looks like an old fashioned, independent grocery, right? Well, that's cause that's exactly what it is. Though the building is older, this family-run business has easy parking, fresh groceries and a convenient diner just next door. Inside the store, the staff is friendly, the selection is amble and its a lot less crowded than the large chain stores in Bishop and Mammoth. The prices aren't bad, either. Click 'read more' for details. Carroll's Grocery has a good selection of basic necessities you'll need to make a picnic to take to one of the local fishing or hiking spots, or to top off your grocery list if you've forgotten to bring something important. There are ready-to-go, fresh foods like baked goods and sandwiches and cold drinks to grab and go. But they also have packaged cheeses, meats, breads and condiments in case you want to build your own sandwiches. They also have a surprisingly large selection of produce and meats -- and even grind their own burger daily. The wine selection is mediocre but the beer selection is more broad and available chilled in the cooler cases.
Need camping supplies? They have a corner dedicated to camping and fishing gear, which is very convenient if you don't want to drive all the way to Bishop for something you've forgotten or lost in the travel shuffle. This is a great place to pick up a lunch, drinks (and PLENTY of water) before you head out on a hike to the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest, an afternoon of fishing around town, or while you're over-nighting at the Glacier View Campground. Looking for even more local shopping? Check out the Nawanaki-Ti Farmers Market every Friday evening, late June to late September.
