As you may know, the Governor of CA has issued a 'Stay at Home' order, asking "all individuals living in the State of California to stay home or at their place of residence, except as needed to maintain continuity of operation of the federal critical infrastructure sector." We are able to rent our homes for emergency service workers, essential service works, for displaced residents needing shelter, for traveler safety, and other response and mitigation efforts related to COVID-19." We are happy to host you if your travel falls into the CA guidance for Stay at Home and if you can answer to all the following questions. Otherwise, Adventure Can Wait. ------------------------- We get it. Really, we do. The LA Basin (and SoCal in general) are total crazyville. You're stuck in your house, there's nothing to do, the stores are wiped out, and you're all going stir crazy. Spending time on social media is just making you paranoid and depressed. So, of course, Mammoth and the Eastern Sierra seem like the perfect escape for solitude and social distancing. Sledding, fireside drinks, snowball fights, game nights -- this isolation thing could be so magical. As a host, I have a responsibility to you, but I also have a responsibility to my staff and my community to mitigate risk when I can. So in an attempt to 'rent responsibly' we are asking that you self-assess before you book. This self-assessment is based on USDA guidance that is being implemented with all forest service visitors -- including those in the Eastern Sierra.
Please read through the self-assessment and if your answer is YES to any of these questions, please delay your trip to the Eastern Sierra.
