The Ride: The gondola departs from Main Lodge's Adventure Center, which is located at Main Lodge, 10001 Minaret Rd. From there, the ride stops at McCoy Station and at the summit. Riders can hop on or off at McCoy, at an elevation of 9,600 feet. For more info like activities at the top, hikes down and ticket prices, click read more. At the top: You will find gorgeous, 360 degree views of the Sierras, the Eleven53 Interpretive Center and Eleven53 Cafe. The Interpretive Center features displays, a movie theater, and interactive exhibits on volcanic history, geology, weather patterns, wildflowers and critters, cultural heritage of the Eastern Sierra region. Knowledgeable docents are available to answer your questions.
Hike Down: You can choose a one-way trip with a 5-mile, fairly challenging hike back down, or ride in both directions. You can even ride back down to McCoy Station to launch your hike, and cut your hike to 2 miles if the 5-mile trek is just a little too daunting. If you do choose to hike, remember to fill your water bottles at McCoy or the Summit before you start your descent.
